The Festival of Assam : BIHU
Bihu is a series of Assamese festivals that reflect the cultural pride and agrarian lifestyle of the people of Assam. Celebrated thrice a year, Bihu marks the different phases of the agricultural calendar, bringing joy, warmth, and a sense of togetherness among Assamese communities. The three Bihus are Bohag Bihu (Rongali Bihu), Kati Bihu (Kongali Bihu), and Magh Bihu (Bhogali Bihu).
Bohag Bihu (Rongali Bihu)
Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, is celebrated in April and marks the Assamese New Year. It is the most vibrant of the three Bihus and signifies the arrival of spring. People clean their homes, wear new clothes, and greet each other with "Bihuor Lukoi." During Rongali Bihu, people engage in joyful celebrations, including Bihu dances and songs, which are performed in open fields. Traditional food items like pithas (rice cakes) and laru (sweets) are prepared and shared among friends and family.
Kati Bihu (Kongali Bihu)
Kati Bihu, observed in October, is a more solemn affair as it falls during the season of scarcity in the agricultural calendar. Farmers pray for the protection of their crops and light earthen lamps (saki) near the Tulsi plant and in fields to ward off pests. The mood is more reflective, and people hope for a prosperous harvest.
Magh Bihu (Bhogali Bihu)
Magh Bihu, celebrated in January, is a festival of food and abundance. It marks the end of the harvesting season. Communities come together to feast and celebrate around bonfires. Uruka, the night before Magh Bihu, is spent preparing a feast. People enjoy games like buffalo fights and community feasts, bringing everyone together in gratitude for a bountiful harvest.
Bihu binds the people of Assam with its deep-rooted traditions, bringing together individuals of all ages and backgrounds in shared joy, respect for nature, and hope for prosperity.

माघ बिहू जनवरी में मनाया जाता है और यह भोजन की प्रचुरता का पर्व है। यह फसल कटाई के अंत का प्रतीक है। लोग सामूहिक भोज करते हैं और उरुका (माघ बिहू की पूर्व संध्या) को विशेष व्यंजन बनाते हैं। भैंस की लड़ाई जैसी पारंपरिक खेलों का भी आयोजन होता है।

মাঘ বিহু (ভোগালী বিহু)
মাঘ বিহু জানুৱাৰীত পালন কৰা হয়। উৰুকাৰ নিশা লোকসকলে একেলগে মিলিজুলিৰ ভোজভাত খাই প্ৰচুৰতা উদযাপন কৰে। খেল ধেমালাৰ সংগে অনা নতুন ফচলৰ আনন্দত বিহু উৎসৱ সম্পন্ন হয়।
