As of December 25, 2024, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented several updates regarding Aadhaar services:
Free Online Document Update Period Ended
The window for free online document updates through the myAadhaar portal concluded on December 14, 2024. After this date, individuals seeking to update their Aadhaar information online are required to pay a fee of ₹50.
Online Address and Document Updates
Through the myAadhaar online portal, residents can update their address and upload supporting documents. For other demographic updates, such as name, date of birth, or mobile number, individuals need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Limits on Demographic Updates
UIDAI has set specific limits on the number of times certain demographic details can be updated:
Name: Can be updated twice in a lifetime.
Gender: Can be updated once in a lifetime.
Date of Birth: Can be updated once in a lifetime.
Booking Appointments
Individuals can book appointments for enrolment or to update their Aadhaar data at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra through the UIDAI website.
Aadhaar PVC Card
UIDAI offers a PVC version of the Aadhaar card, which includes security features such as holograms and micro text. This card can be ordered online for a fee of ₹50 and will be delivered to the registered address via Speed Post.
